Contracts 101 with Caravel Law
September 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
ventureLAB in collaboration with Caravel Law, will be hosting a FREE virtual workshop.
As a business owner, contracts are the engine that drive your business. In some cases, however, those contracts may not be done properly, and issues may arise.
In this session, you will hear from some of Caravel’s experienced start-up lawyers who will go over key contract elements that founders should be thinking about. They will also review common contract issues, and some helpful tips on standard contract clauses.
Welcome to Contracts 101.

12:05 PM – 12:45 PM: “Contracts101” by Greg Ramsay, Sean Mitra, & Monica Goyal Caravel Law

Greg Ramsay – Corporate & Commercial Lawyer, Caravel Law
Greg Ramsay is not a typical lawyer. Having spent 12+ years as a corporate/commercial lawyer and 10+ years of business entrepreneurship, Greg has a tremendous amount of practical experience. He has had leadership roles in large organizations in corporate risk management and insurance, and has been the Privacy Officer for large North American companies operating in Canada and the United States.
As an entrepreneur, he currently runs his legal-tech startup, while maintaining his appetite for legal support as a Tech/SaaS, Privacy, and Corporate Lawyer – practicing in association with Caravel Law.
Sean Mitra – Corporate Lawyer, Caravel Law
Sean splits his time between his work with Caravel Law as a Technology Lawyer and his work as a co-founder of the space start-up the Lunar Water Supply Company. He has a broad ranging legal background, with experience working for all levels of government, a national law firm, and now new-law Caravel. His legal practice includes regulatory, intellectual property, privacy, commercial and space law.
Outside of his work, Sean is an experienced martial artist with over 10 years of training, and loves breaking down the choreography in fight scenes. He sometimes idly wonders if he could have made it doing stunt/action movie work.
Monica Goyal – Director of Legal Innovation, Caravel Law
Monica Goyal is the Director of Legal Innovation for Caravel Law. She founded My Legal Briefcase, an innovative platform that provides efficient and democratic legal solutions for small businesses, and Aluvion Law, a flat-fee law firm that provides accessible and affordable legal solutions.
Monica has a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. She began her career working for major telecommunications companies such as Toshiba, Nokia, and Nortel, before earning her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Monica is a former Adjunct Professor and Visiting at Osgoode Hall Law School, and the Institute of Future Law Practice where she taught law and technology courses. Currently, she teaches Access to Justice and Technology with Lincoln Alexander Law School the Institute of Future Law Practice.
She has been named as one of the 10 Women to Watch in Tech in the Journal of the American Bar Association and has won a 2017 Fastcase 50 Award.
